Grants and Bursaries

1) The network is offering a bursary of up to £500 to any postgraduate student writing a dissertation or thesis in women's or gender history. Students must be members of the West of England and South Wales Women's History network studying at an institution in the West of England or South Wales.

Applicants should apply by letter to the email address below including a 500 word summary of your research, details of proposed expenses and why the grant is necessary, and confirmation from your university that you are not receiving funding for this purpose from any other source. You should also give the contact details of a referee who knows your work. There is no deadline for these grants.

Previous successful applicants have applied for travel and accommodation expenses to visit archives and to undertake oral history interviews.

2) We also offer bursaries of up to £100 for speakers within the UK to attend the annual conference.Local network members from the UK who are students or low-waged can also apply for travel expenses to the conference if they live outside the area where the conference is being held. Please be aware that funds are limited and not all applicants will be successful. Applicants should apply by letter or email to the address below giving details of your financial circumstances and a contact details of a referee.

3) We will also consider applications from independent researchers and postgraduate members of the West of England and South Wales Women's History network for research expenses of up to a maximum of £100.
